Google shares moved sharply higher after reporting 2Q 2011 earnings which handily topped forecasts. The beat on Non-GAAP EPS (+11.20%) was the second biggest since 2007, while the revenue margin relative to forecasts was the steepest since 2005.
Trading Highlights
- After closing at $528.94, Google shares surged more than $50, or nearly 10%, on more than 103,000 shares traded in the first minute.
- More than 885,000 shares traded two minutes following the first Selerity timestamp. By 4:05, Google shares were trading at $583.07, over $50 above the closing price.
- The S&P E-Mini Index Futures (June 2011) climbed more than 2 handles from 1304.75 to 1307.25 immediately after the Selerity publication.
- The NASDAQ 100 E-Mini Index Futures (June 2011) rose more than 9 handles from around 2324 to 2333.
